Tell us why you became a teacher

Inspired by the guidance of my aunt and mother, I chose to become a teacher to empower and uplift students. With a natural talent for explaining concepts in multiple ways, I strive to make learning accessible and engaging for everyone. My personal experiences have instilled in me a deep empathy, allowing me to understand and support students facing their own challenges. I aim to create a nurturing environment where curiosity thrives, fostering a love for learning.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One unforgettable moment teaching ESE in a low-income neighborhood was when a shy student finally read her poem aloud in English class. As she spoke with genuine emotion, the classroom erupted in applause, and I saw the spark of belief ignite in her eyes. She now shares her writing with the community, and I couldn't be prouder. Watching her grow from a timid girl into a confident writer reminds me of the profound impact we can have as educators.

What would you do with the $25,000?

As I currently teach students on a modified curriculum I would use the money to purchase assistive technology tailored to students' needs, such as speech-to-text software, sensory tools, or adaptive learning devices.
