Teaching for me is a calling. I always played school growing up and saw the positive impact teachers can have through my father who was also an educator. I'm drawn to teaching because of the transformative power it has. Teaching provides me fulfillment through personal connections and the joy of watching my student grow.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceI had a student that for other teachers would often run out of the room and refuse work. Instead of giving up, I took time to build a positive relationship with him, listening to his struggles and encouraging strengths by positive reinforcement. Over time he shifted from avoiding work to actively seeking it out. His motivation grew from wanting to succeed not just for grades but to make me proud, showing the power of patience and understanding.
What would you do with the $25,000?First, as a mother of 8, I would make sure my family needs are met including supporting education, extracurricular, and college funds. I would love to set some aside for a few house projects but most importantly, I would want to buy the school exercise bikes for students to use while reading.
