Tell us why you became a teacher

For as long as I can remember I was always teaching, whether to my dolls, the neighborhood children, or my little cousins. From a young age, I knew that teaching was my passion and calling! I became a teacher to inspire students in ALL areas of their lives. I want students to know that no matter what challenges they encounter, academic or even behavioral, I am always here. It only takes one spark to start a fire, and I want to be that spark to every child who walks through my classroom doors.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

"Every Friday, my second-graders generously sacrificed recess to play with our preschool friends on the Autism Spectrum. We discussed mindful interactions, and fostering empathy. One student developed a special bond with a nonverbal child. Weeks later, this student excitedly shared that his friend had spoken to him! Witnessing this profound connection and the joy it brought filled my heart with immense pride. These moments remind me why I do what I do."

What would you do with the $25,000?

After a small shopping spree for myself, I need some new clothes! :)The majority would seed a dream: opening a small school. This unique learning space would celebrate individuality, focusing on personalized learning journeys to ensure every child thrives. Not everyone learns the same, so we'll provide individualized support and hands-on activities to foster curiosity and ignite a passion for knowledge. This investment would empower students and contribute to a brighter future for all.
