I became a teacher because of my own past teachers. I was never the "popular" kid or the most advanced dancer, but I worked extremely hard. The teachers I had showed & taught me empathy, kindness, inclusivity, and to see the potential in myself & others. One teacher saw more potential in myself than I knew was possible. My high school Dance teacher invited me to intern for a summer arts program in the summer of 2010. That summer, I decided that I would become a teacher that makes a difference.

I had a particularly tough high school class in terms of behavior and support needs. One students told me on the first day that she doesn't dance & I would never be able to make her dance. I knew that this student just needed a little encouragement & a lot of love. I was patient & encouraged her throughout the year. When it came time for our big concert, this student was not only excited, but she also lead the class & reminded them to be on their best behavior. She reminded me of my why.

I would begin a dance scholarship in the school district that I grew up in for a child pursuing dance in higher education. I want another child to have a chance to follow their dreams in college & beyond. I would also set up an education fund for my 6yr old sister & 9yr old nephew who both have autism. I want them both to have every opportunity in this world to be successful & independent. I would also want to have a little fun & take my baby sister on the vacation of her dreams to Japan.
