Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I wanted to make a positive impact on young kids. I love being able to make learning fun and allowing students to use their imagination to support their own learning. I wanted to be the teacher that makes school fun, and create projects, activities and even assessments that they looked forward to. I also wanted to be the teacher that made the effort to get the proper support for those kiddos who need it.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching moments was when I was in my 1st year teaching, I had a student who really struggled with math. As someone who struggled with math myself, I really wanted to support this student in every way I could. She failed test after test throughout the year. I continued to meet with her in small group every day. One of our last math tests she received 100%. She gave me a hug & said “I didn’t think I could do it,” I was so happy to have helped her achieve her goals!

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I won the $25,000 I would put it towards a home. When I graduated with my BA in education I grew such a love for education especially in my first year teaching & made the decision to continue my education. I received my masters degree in curriculum and instruction. Since I paid for my education while working three jobs, since then I have been saving for a home. I would also use some of it to support my classroom and students, I think it would help me provide amazing resources for my students!
