I teach high school English, and love being able to guide students in creative communication, critical thinking, and awareness skills.

I became a teacher to create an awareness amongst students. I firmly believe that an awareness to the human experience and our world is what ultimately makes a difference in our health, relationships, beliefs, etc. I love the idea of encouraging introspection, while also looking at how our inner world affects the outer world-- how it is all a domino effect.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceMy most memorable teaching experience is a cumulative one, actually. A few years ago, I had the most challenging class. I didn't know how to guide them into caring about the material, but gradually, these students came around. They grew as scholars, as friends, as citizens, and it was so beautiful and heart-warming to watch. Tears were shed on that last day of school, and I will truly cherish that day forever.
What would you do with the $25,000?I live in Southern California so I would donate some of this money to the victims of the Eaton fires. I can't imagine what they must be going through with losing all their belongings and homes. I would also save some for a house for my family. My husband, also a teacher, and I have been saving for a home for our family of four- the wait has been long but this would definitely help!
