Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher to inspire and support youth. Growing up, I found a safe space in school, and I want to offer the same support to the students in my classroom today. I want to inspire students to believe in themselves and follow their passions because, with hard work and determination, anything is possible. I want to help ALL students gain the confidence to dream BIG and provide them with experiences so they are ready to pursue meaningful careers after high school.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

This is a hard one, as I have so many great memories from teaching, but I'd say studying marine science with my students in Belize. Providing students the opportunity to both travel and explore science was such a rewarding experience. I love being able to ignite curiosity and provide students with meaningful, impactful experiences that will be remembered for a lifetime.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I am a breast cancer survivor and I would donate some of the money towards breast cancer research. The remaining funds would allow me to finally cover a down payment on a house and reach my goal of becoming a homeowner. I would finally be able to start building a foundation that will help support my Mom and close family more securely.
