Since high school, I'd always known that I wanted to teach music, especially choir. My experiences were exceptional and I wanted to continue that tradition in my community. I was fortunate to be able to teach in the same school system that I went through. I'm very thankful and blessed to love my career and my students for all these years!

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

As a very young teacher, I was asked to teach strings to elementary students. I took on the challenge and then a couple of years later, I had a deaf who desperately wanted to learn to play the violin. He had an aid, so I was supported in my efforts, and by the end of the year, he was ready to play in the concert! I was amazed at how well he played, and very proud that we both accepted the challenge.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I am nearing retirement, so I would probably save the money to take a trip to Europe after retirement.
