I love teaching special education because I get to show kids how to turn their weaknesses into their strengths.

Register NowWhen I was in Kindergarten, I connect with a classmate that had special needs. Through our friendship, I learned that she just wanted to be included. I studied special education in college and I am currently pursuing my PhD in Special Education at Liberty University. My goal is to implement special education policy to continue to create inclusive environments for all students.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceMy most memorable experience is when we were sent home in March 2020 due to the Covid 19 pandemic. I had to learn a whole new way of instruction. I got to see the effect of the rapport I built with students. They shared with me how much it meant to them that they could still be in my class during a confusing time. I will never forget that class or those students.
What would you do with the $25,000?Even though I love teaching, I have yet to start building a savings. My credit card is over the limit, and I had to take off work because I need an oil change and I’m trying to save my gas until pay day. Living like this while trying to pour into the next generation is immensely difficult. The $25k would help me get on my feet, pay my debts, and create a savings for my future.
