Tell us why you became a teacher

I want to make a lasting impact on my students' lives. I find joy in helping students, especially those with disabilities, overcome challenges and reach their potential. I want to be the teacher they always remember- the one who believed in them, supported them, and made a real difference. It’s not just about the lessons I teach but the connections I build and the confidence I instill in my students.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I had a student in my 1st grade specific learning disabilities class who came to me with a lot of gaps & a learning disability. Although almost 7 years old, he couldn't recognize any letters/numbers, nor could he read or write. After 2 years in my class, he was able to go on to be mainstreamed one subject at a time, due to so much growth. He came back to visit me last year- he's now 16 and graduating high school early! The "thank you hug" was the best feeling in the world!

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would use some of it in my classroom to make it more cozy and homey. I also would have a big party with my class to celebrate!!! I would use the rest to finish my Master's Degree (this took a backseat since having my 2 amazing children)!
