Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because ever since 1st grade I loved Math. I have a picture I drew in Elementary school of me being a math teacher. I love watching students grow and helping them to become successful in a topic that not everyone enjoys. Being a teacher involves so much more than just teaching that subject. You are a mentor, an ear to listen, and in my case someone to go to when you are hungry. I try to keep my drawers full of healthy snacks and celebrate ever students birthday:)

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My favorite memory was a day I got called to the principals office. They had someone come to my room to cover my class. While I was waiting in the office thinking I was in trouble, my class was decorating my room for a baby shower they organized for me. They asked permission from my principal and she was in on the plan so they could pull off the surprise. When I returned they had bought me presents with their own money and the whole room was baby theme. A day I will never forget

What would you do with the $25,000?

I have had many health issues in the last few years. 3 years ago I got diagnosed with congestive heart failure and went from perfectly healthy to a critically low heart. After teaching all day I am very tired at night and feel sad when I don't get to play with my own children as much as I use to. I would love to take my family on a vacation where I can relax with them and just enjoy each other's company without any health concerns.
