I became a teacher because of my supportive fifth grade teacher! He was a kind encouraging example of what a teacher is, I wanted to be this for others!
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceI was teaching grade 5 inclusion. I had a student that was selective mute. I began journaling with him for the five minutes before lunch. I would ask him yes or no questions and he would write his response. Then I got him to whisper in my ear the answers. Finally, I got him to whisper to his best friend. The first real thing that he said to me was that he really loved me. He had not spoken at school since first grade. It was a beautiful moment.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would pay off some bills and work on building a tutoring business to help more struggling students.
