I met Les Brown who was a motivational speaker and he spoke about his learning challenges. He also said that a lot of children that are in special aid are misdiagnosed because they’re not understood and they carry that stigma all their lives. I want to make a difference.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceat the time, I was teaching a self-contained special education class and had a conference with a parent. The student signed to me that he had to use the bathroom and I told him to go ahead and go. His mom broke down in tears because she did not even know he had the ability to use the restroom on his own. She was so grateful!
