Tell us why you became a teacher

I did not intend to originally. I studied medicine in college but I had an epiphany during the MCAT that I did not want to be a doctor. I never checked the score. I got a job teaching biology to pay bills while I figured out next steps, and started volunteering as a kids Jiu Jitsu coach in the evenings. I got certified in math, and before long I was offered an engineering teacher position. Pretty soon I realized that I loved teaching and mentoring kids, and discovered I was very good at it

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

This is hard to choose, from writing the engineering curriculum for my district, to having a big YouTuber come and make a video about my class and donated 16 3D printers to our district. I have had a lot of experience. But the most memorable was during Covid lockdowns and distance learning, I launched my YouTube channel, Flipped Engineering, which allowed teachers all over the country to assign self paced lessons for students at home to continue learning Engineering.
