To me, being a teacher is much less about what you know, and much more about who you are. Being my students’ “safe space”makes me proud!

I never intended to be a teacher. Wasn’t even on my radar! After raising my last baby, I went back to school to get my Health Sciences degree, hoping to attend Physician Assistant school shortly after. But after subbing in a 7th grade science classroom, I fell in love with teaching. I’ve never felt more my authentic self, and for all the love I pour into them, they give it back tenfold. It’s an honor and a privilege to be a part of these kids’ journey.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceI get the opportunity to have memorable teaching experiences every single day! As a STEM educator, my main goal is to inspire a love of learning and curiosity. I am reminded daily that we are planting seeds for future growth, and that is the thing that will always be most memorable to me.
What would you do with the $25,000?Obviously, any science teacher would LOVE to sink $25,000 into their lab - that stuff is EXPENSIVE! I would also set some aside for a spa day for the teachers and administrators at my school. Everyone there gives their all every day, and it’s incredibly motivating and inspiring.
