Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I wanted to inspire future generations to love and enjoy physical education, just as I have. Growing up, I was always passionate about sports and physical activity, and I want to share that enthusiasm with my students. I believe that physical education is not only about teaching fitness but also about fostering teamwork, confidence, and a sense of accomplishment. What truly motivated me to pursue teaching, however, was a teacher who inspired me when I was in school.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching experiences happened during a relay race focused on teamwork and collaboration. I paired a student who struggled with confidence with a classmate they didn’t know well. Initially, the student was hesitant, but as the race went on, they started communicating and strategizing with their partner. By the end, they completed the task and built a new connection with their teammate. It was a powerful reminder that PE is not just about physical skills.

What would you do with the $25,000?

It would go toward professional development opportunities, such as attending conferences or courses related to physical education and educational leadership. This would help me stay up-to-date with best practices and continue to improve my teaching.
