I believe in the power of art to transform lives. Growing up in a creative household and earning degrees in graphic design and art education, I saw firsthand how art fosters identity, pride, and storytelling. Teaching allows me to merge my passion for creativity with my commitment to community, empowering students to find their voices and use their artistic talents to inspire change.

One of my most memorable teaching experiences was when my students’ digital art projects were displayed in a public exhibition. Seeing their confidence grow as they presented their work to the community reinforced why I do this. Another highlight was guiding an AP Art student through a sustained investigation on identity watching their personal story unfold through their artwork was deeply moving and reaffirmed the importance of artistic expression.

I would use the $25,000 to expand access to digital art tools for my students, ensuring they have the resources to bring their creative visions to life. This includes funding Adobe Express subscriptions, providing high-quality printing for student portfolios, and supporting community-based public art projects. Additionally, I would invest in professional development to further integrate technology and storytelling into my teaching, empowering students to create impactful, meaningful work.
