Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher to share my love of music with the next generation. Music is our collective cultural history and proof of our shared experiences. I think using music as a bridge from our past to put future can help inspire those who need it the most!

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

In the district I'm currently in, my job has been to turn around a program that had been languishing due to mismanagement, Covid-19 and lack creative drive from staff and students. Seeing the smiles begin to return to my students faces, knowing that they have the chance to perform really is the best!

What would you do with the $25,000?

While some of the money will go towards rent and bills, I definitely want to invest in myself and my future! I've always wanted my own piano at home so that I can practice! Also, I've never really taken an actual vacation on my own. Maybe a trip to Japan is in my near future? Regardless, it would be a huge honor just to be considered!
