Connie Naqvi

The most important reason why I love teaching is to see the eyes of a child light up when they have their "A-ha" moments.

Tell us why you became a teacher

Prior to serving as an educator, I worked as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist for 19 years. During my tenure in the laboratory, my favorite time of the year was when clinical students came through during their rotations. I thoroughly enjoyed teaching students as they prepared for their careers in the laboratory. My love for teaching grew over a short period of time and that is when I decided to leave the laboratory to pursue a new path in education.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

During the 2023-2024 school year, one of my homeroom students always scored poorly when it came to essay writing. I recommended she attend after school tutoring to help her enhance her writing skills. When the after school tutoring sessions came to an end, she grew from a struggling writer, to a student who produced quality work, earning her A's instead of F's. I was so proud of her. Even more importantly, she was proud of herself!

What would you do with the $25,000?

I am a very blessed mother of three incredible children. If I were fortunate enough to be the recipient of $25,000, I would invest this money in my children's college education to secure their futures.
