Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a science and STEAM teacher for middle school because I have a passion for inspiring young minds at a critical stage in their development. Middle schoolers are at an age where they’re naturally curious, full of questions, and eager to explore how the world works. I enjoy making science and STEAM subjects engaging, hands-on, and relevant, helping students develop problem-solving skills, creativity, and a love for discovery.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

Witnessing students push past their own limits and realizing what they’re capable of. It is amazing to see their confidence grow in real time. These are the things that still excite me. Sometimes children can be their own worst enemies and there and they are so quick to think that they cannot achieve something. When they reach above and beyond what they even imagined it is fascinating to see. It never gets old.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I were to win the $25,000 from this experience, I would use it to take my STEAM program to the next level with new and exciting materials that inspire creativity and innovation. This funding would allow me to create a Green Space and school garden that not only enhances our learning environment but also integrates with our cafeteria. Additionally, I would love to take my students on an unforgettable, overnight trip. Real life experiences create memories that are unforgettable.
