Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I want students to know that there’s an adult who believes in them and cares about them. I want students to learn from a teacher with integrity, heart, and passion because all kids deserve that. Furthermore, I want to help students grow and develop their own sense of self and reach goals for their future; help them believe they can and they will. Lastly, school should be a positive and safe place for students and I’m committed to ensuring that for them and so much more

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience is teaching during the time of Covid, the school year of 2020-2021. Through the struggles we all faced during that time, my students and I still built a strong bond through Zoom. We had “office hours” on Wednesdays for students to join if they needed extra help on assignments. My students would join just to hang out with me through Zoom. I enjoyed those moments the most. Our class picture that year was a screenshot of us in Zoom with our webcams on.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would use some of that money to donate to my school that I work at for student program funds like marimba and to the specials department like P.E. and Art to have new equipment and materials. Also, I think each classroom deserves a SmartBoard to enhance learning, so I would love to donate that to each classroom at my school as well.
