The reason I love teaching is to see my students face light up when they understand something that they thought they would never understand.

Tell us why you became a teacher

Honestly, there are many reasons why I became a teacher. I did life a little different and started a family and got married early so my dream of teaching was put on pause. Young parents, struggling to make it, quitting my job to go to school myself was out of the question. Until, one Christmas, my father gifted me a laptop and said, you can go to school online so you pursue your dream of becoming a teacher. The next day I was a college student.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My dad passed away in my 5th year of teaching. Every student wrote for me a sympathy card. I cried like a baby reading each and every one. It was very touching to read how much I meant to them as their teacher. I still have those cards. When times get rough, they serve me as a reminder of why I wanted to teach in the first place.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I won $25,000, I would pay off my school loans.
