Tell us why you became a teacher

I love teaching the next generation of leaders. Seeing the lightbulb moments when something clicks for a student. Being a positive role model & having students come back years later saying you've made an impact is so powerful.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

There are so many over the years, but having students come back years later saying they are changed or feel impacted because of you is the greatest! I had a student who I struggled with years ago who would come back and visit me every year after she left my class on a regular basis. Former students always stop me in the halls to say hi and catch me up on their lives. It gives me so much joy knowing that they still look back at our time together fondly!

What would you do with the $25,000?

As a teacher, I obviously would use some of it on my classroom and to provide experiences for my students. I would love to get some more developmentally appropriate kindergarten materials in my classroom for students to use. I would also invest in a down payment for a house for my family and I. As a first generation college grad, its a life goal to own my own home. I would also love to start a family & this money would help me start working towards that goal.
