Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher to help others. I always knew that my future would be in helping, I just wasn’t sure in what field. After deciding that I no longer wanted to go to medical school, I turned my sights on teaching, and 20 years later, I’m still pleased with my decision. While teaching has gotten significantly harder, and more exhausting, since Covid, I still thoroughly thrive on letting my students know that I am always there for them and look forward to seeing them all everyday.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience has been the many instances where my students have excitedly updated me with their life changes, both while in school and post graduation. I truly love keeping up with them all and following along on their journey of growth. I absolutely love being in major milestones of the ones who have become more like brother and sister, son and daughter than just student. Teaching is an environment where we can change lives forever.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would pay off some debt that has been accumulated and then take my partners and MIL on a vacation to show them how much we appreciate all they do to help us and my classroom/students.
