I knew I wanted to go into a profession that impacted children in some way. What better way than being a teacher? My passion is to change/touch a life of at least one child every year. I wanted to become a teacher because I knew the impact some of my teachers had on me, and if I could influence anyone in my life, I would pray it was a child who entered my classroom. I love what I do, and a teacher can do more for a child than just teach curriculum. You teach about life.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceThere are so many memorable moments. One that stands out, was teaching my kindergarteners about being there for one of our own. One of my students had a severe brain tumor, which caused seizures. The class knew she was a little different, but we never focused on that. Her family was going to travel to another state for surgery, so our class put together a coin challenge at school for everyone to help out. We raised over $2,000 for her family just from coins collected from everyone at school.
What would you do with the $25,000?I'd definitely use some for my classroom. Donate some to my small church. Pay off some debt, and help my college students with things they may need. It would definitely help out our family!
