Tell us why you became a teacher

The opportunity to serve multilingual students in an urban school is a great blessing and privilege. After commvolunteering and raísing my seven daughters, I went back to school to earn my BA in English and Spanish. Teaching children the joy of reading and critical thinking drives my pedagogy, improving their lives, citizenship, and future. I teach them to be college ready, globally minded, leaders who are comfortable using EdTech tools and academic researchers.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience was teaching ELA and the students were so excited to read the drama they fought over the parts and read it with enthusiasm and then asked if they could create their own! We are working on a bilingual program for our 5th grade graduation.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I have school and medical debt from my daughter with disabilities and would pay it off. If we had any left over I would repair my car and house.
