Tell us why you became a teacher

Becoming a teacher felt like the profession chose me. I never planned to teach but always loved kids. In college, I switched to Early Childhood Education, sparking my passion. I started as a Pre-K paraprofessional and, 14 years later, became a High School Literacy Specialist. Teaching aligns with my love for children and desire to make a difference. It’s challenging yet rewarding, and I can’t imagine doing anything else. Helping students unlock their potential brings me purpose and joy.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable moment was my first graduating class in 2018. After a year of teaching and inspiring them, seeing their smiling faces at graduation was unforgettable. The pride and joy in their eyes, knowing I played a part in their journey, filled me with purpose. It was a reminder of why I teach—to make a difference and celebrate their achievements. That day, I felt the true impact of being an educator.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With $25,000, I’d split it wisely: put some in savings for my son, fund scholarships for college-bound students, and support my literacy summer camp. The scholarships would help dreams come true, while the camp would inspire young readers. Saving ensures future stability, but investing in education and literacy creates lasting impact. It’s about empowering others while securing my own foundation.
