I became a teacher because I know the power a great educator holds. The excellent teachers I had inspired me to make a lasting impact, while the indifferent ones showed me precisely what I didn’t want to be. I want every student to feel valued, capable, and empowered to succeed. Teaching isn’t just a job; It’s a commitment to shaping the future, ensuring every child knows their potential and has the support to reach it.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

Last year, I had a student with multiple learning disabilities who was closed off, had no friends, and had never been proficient on state tests. Through conversations about anime, I built trust, and with one-on-one support, he began to believe in himself. By the end of the year, he achieved proficiency for the first time. He thanked me, saying he wouldn’t have done it without my help. That moment reminded me why I teach and is a moment I will never forget.

What would you do with the $25,000?

As a single mom, this $25,000 would be life-changing. I would use it to pay off my accumulated debt, relieve financial stress, and create a more stable future for my daughters. The rest would go toward a down payment on a home for my daughters and me, a place where we can build lasting memories and feel secure. This opportunity would impact my family and allow me to continue giving my best to my students without financial worries.
