Tell us why you became a teacher

Looking back, my journey to becoming a teacher began in the fifth grade. It wasn't because of some inspiring lesson plan or a thrilling classroom experiment. It was because of kindness. My fifth-grade teacher showed me the power of compassion and patience, creating and environment where I felt safe, valued, and understood. This world can often be overwhelming, the kindness stood out as a beacon of hope. I became a teacher because I wanted to carry that same light into the lives others.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

It is hard to pick just one, everyday I see the impact that small acts of kindness can have. A simple word of encouragement can boost a child's confidence. A moment of patience can make all the difference in a child's learning experience. I teach not only to educate young minds but to nurture their hearts. I aim to be a teacher who helps my students feel seen and valued.

What would you do with the $25,000?

In my classroom, I would love to have differential seating. I have so many students that need movement as they work. They want and need to move around, but I need them at a table to get their work finished. There is a need for social/emotional books on the level of the students I teach. I would like our Yoga and Art programs to continue on.
