As a child I would always play school, I had a desk, a grade book, and would take attendance and say the Pledge of Allegiance. I would make my nieces and nephews act as students. I was also blessed to have some of the most involved, thoughtful teachers in the world. They made such an impression when I was going through some of the most traumatic events in my life. I wanted to be that kind of teacher.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceMost of my teaching career involved students with special needs. My most memorable moments involved Special Olympics. The pride that the students always felt was so inspiring. It was always my favorite day of the year.
What would you do with the $25,000?My husband and I have rented our home for more than 21 years. The same home! We are now in the process of purchasing that same home. We would use that money to fix up the basic needs that this home needs. We are parents to 5 children and grandparents to 12 children. We also have never had a honeymoon. Our dream is to someday go to Alaska. We have put that off for so many years because of other needs.
