Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a kindergarten teacher because I believe early childhood education is a deep and powerful way to mold a child’s future. Watching the youngest of learners make important discoveries, grow in their sense of self, and fall in love with school is so inspiring to me.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience is getting to spend a year co-teaching with my mentor. She opened our school kindergarten classroom 35 years ago, and we spent a fun filled and fabulous time leading together before she turned the classroom over to me upon retirement.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would put the $25,000 right back into my school. I would use it to run new after school initiatives, broaden our school guidance social emotional programs, and perform necessary building improvements
