Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I am passionate about inspiring and shaping young minds, fostering a love for learning, and making a positive impact on students' lives. Education has the power to transform individuals and communities, and I want to be a part of that journey, guiding students to reach their full potential while cultivating critical thinking, creativity, and empathy. I want to be that teacher who guides their students to believe in themselves, therefore leading to their future success.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience might have to be my entire first year. Starting from the first day, I was extremely nervous to greet 20 new smiling students at my door with the fear that I was not prepared for what was to come. At the end of the day, I was left crying and feeling overwhelmed like I had done something wrong. A few days later, I received a note from a student that she was so excited to be in my class and I was doing a great job. That is when I knew I was in the right place.

What would you do with the $25,000?

The first thing I would do is look for opportunities for professional development in the areas that I would like to grow the most as an educator. I would love to have a chance to look into field trips, workshops, or guest speakers that would enhance the students learning and their attitude towards the schooling experience. Through these different experiences, the students can have a say in what they are passionate about and connect learning to real-life situations.
