Candice Yates

I love teaching because it is quite rewarding to see my student strive to be excellent. I love to see their progress and growth.

Tell us why you became a teacher

I developed a love for children when I started working daycare over 25 years ago. I really enjoyed that time.I went straight into the school system and my first experience was with a CRI program. I did SPED for 17 years, and tho it was a lot of work, it was well worth it. These students are often told they can’t make it.To see them and help them achieve, was the best feeling ever.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I am into Music. When I was at the middle school, my CRI students had to take music. The teacher was not experienced with these kids so I had to reteach and modify the skills for them. To see most of them engaged and understanding a lot of the concepts was thee absolute best experience I ever had!

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would definitely help my family in every way I can! I might splurge a little on myself too.
