Tell us why you became a teacher

I became passionate about teaching because of my mom, a teacher who nurtured my love for art, and my elementary art teacher, who encouraged my creativity by showcasing my work in art shows. This boosted my confidence. I've always loved working with kids and want to show them how art can be life-changing, just as it was for me. Becoming an art teacher allows me to inspire students, share the transformative power of creativity, and help them express themselves in meaningful ways.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my favorite memories as a teacher was taking my kindergartners to the Denver Art Museum last year. For many, it was their first time in the city and an art museum. Their eyes lit up with curiosity as they experienced real art in person! Over my 16 years teaching various art mediums, this trip stands out as a truly cultural experience. Watching them absorb the magic of it all reminded me why I became an art teacher—to inspire young minds with creativity and wonder.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With $25,000, I’d first pay off bills to reduce financial stress. I would also like to purchase some art supplies for my own home studio. I’d also set aside money for a small vacation to recharge and gain new inspiration. Finally, I’d save a portion for future needs which would provide a solid foundation for both personal and creative growth.
