Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because it was a dream of mine since I was a young student. I had great role models and educators who impacted my life and career choices. I have so much joy and respect for the job. I became a teacher to share my love for education, care, compassion onto young children. It is my goal to be the person my students need from a teacher to a care giver to a provider. I am blessed by all my students and paraprofessionals who I work with on a daily basis. I adore it all!

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

The most memorable teaching experiences for me are the expressions and experiences I share with my students outside of the curriculum and academic instruction. I love experiencing the life experiences with my students. We held a big thanksgiving dinner, Christmas gifts from our elf, a New Year’s celebration and many more things to come. I get so much joy watching them enjoy life as it is. Not many of my students have these situations at home.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I honestly don’t know how I would answer this question. I would probably use the money to buy classroom decorations for everyday. Or I would use the money to purchase classroom materials to make the life experiences even more engaging and enjoyable for all. I would use the money to help some of my students and their families. I would also be selfish and use some of the money to provide a self care activity for myself. Teaching is hard work, especially special education. Self care is needed!
