Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher to be a light in this dark world. I started working at a church summer camp, and found my heart was in the ministry field. While I teach math now, I continue to shine his light through everything I do inside my classroom. Every student needs an advocate, someone to fight for them and push them to be their best. Every student also deserves a positive role model. I strive to be all of those things while educating and enriching young minds.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

Everyday is exciting so that’s hard.. I have a special friend who has struggles inside and outside of the classroom. This friend has struggled to regulate emotions in years passed and struggled to *want* to come to school regularly. This year, with lots of love, this friend skips down the hallway most days. Seeing their smile is one of my biggest joys this year.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With $25,000 I would pay some bills and start working towards getting my masters. I want to go back to school and continue to grow as an educator. Teachers never stop learning right?
