Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher to change the lives of children. I like to relate to my students and be a role model for them. I like to go beyond the textbooks and create fun and engaging lessons for my students allowing them to connect to peers and myself. As a student, I never had this relationship with my teachers so I feel it is important to create a healthy and transparent relationships with my students. I feel that this quality motivates my students to care and enjoy going to school.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience was creating a cheerleading program at my school. I was able to establish a relationship with many students as well as gain support from the school community through fundraisers. Creating this program allowed my students to showcase their talents and abilities while working together as a team, ultimately creating and developing respectful relationships with their peers.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would get a jump start at my future with my husband and help pay off my student loans.
