I became a teacher to love, nurture and advocate for those who feel unseen. Teaching isn’t just about lessons—it’s about being a safe haven and support system for students who need it most. I strive to push inclusion, creating spaces where every child feels valued. I stepped into a Special Education program when it was at risk of closure, hoping to ensure its students wouldn’t lose the safe and supportive space they deserve. Teaching allows me to leave a lasting impact—one child at a time.

Walking into a classroom with no structure or hope, I became the teacher who built it back up. One student, feared and judged by others, completely transformed through love, patience, and understanding. By nurturing him and believing in who he could be, I watched a new, incredible person emerge. That bond reminded me why I teach: to see the beauty in every child, even when others can't, and to help them see it in themselves.

I would dedicate the $25,000 to my students and community. I’d fund transportation for field trips like the Special Olympics, create inclusive events like rallies, and design merchandise to raise more funds. I’d purchase sensory tools, adaptive equipment, and support programs that foster inclusion. Most importantly, I’d give back to the community that shaped me by creating opportunities and experiences that remind every student they are valued, capable, and worthy of endless possibilities.
