I was inspired by two amazing educator who showed me that there were different ways to explain/express your knowledge of material. These two educators worked together and help transform my life because they took the time to figure out I was dyslexic and had ADHD. They encouraged me to use my interest, and love, of art to help me grow and become a better student. Now, I strive to do the same with my students. I want them to know they can use what they use in my art class in other areas of lives.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My favorite moment was in 2024 with my 3rd grade students. They were learning about Greek and Roman Gods/ Goddesses, and mythology. We did two projects that went along with those lessons. One was a painting of Poseidon and the other was making a paper trojan helmet. They were so excited to tell me all the things they knew about the subjects. I love watching their faces light up when they make connections between art and other subjects, because they go together so well.

What would you do with the $25,000?

My wife and I got married in October 2023, and then bought our first home in March of 2024. Since I am a teacher and moving expenses, we didn't have time to go on a honeymoon. I would love to take her on a trip for a honeymoon. I would also use the money to pay off some debt and put towards classroom wishlist items.
