Briana Paisley

Teaching junior high is no joke, but seeing the academic, social and emotional growth between each grade is the greatest gift of teaching.

Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I wanted to be the voice for the voiceless and represent the students that no one else wanted to work with and the students that were rejected by their own parents. I want all students to feel like they have a family, even if it’s at school.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of the most memorable times I had as a teacher was when one of my students, who has selective mutism , wrote an entire story that was creative, scary, & funny. He wrote about himself & his friends working together to defeat an evil clown. No one else knew what he was capable of because he was without words but he definitely had a lot to say, he just needed the right platform to share it. I was so impressed & shared how proud I was with everyone. He has since began talking more frequently!

What would you do with the $25,000?

Honestly, if I won that much money, I would probably create a fish pond or something calming at my house. I want to continue to work with traumatized kiddos but I need a calm and safe place to come home too. Also, I would get my class more cooking equipment! They love it.
