Brian Oyler

I think about all the different lives which I have touched through the years. Somehow I had to make a difference.

Tell us why you became a teacher

My grandmother was the first inspiration. She was a one room schoolhouse teacher from @1913 to 1919. The second inspiration was my intense interest in World Language and those teachers who inspired me in the early years (1970s). As I began my career as an educator, I became more limitlessly dedicated to the profession (1980s, 1990s, 2000s). Now that I am semi-retired, I am seeking new chapters to career choices. (2020s)

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

The most positive teaching years were 2000 to 2014. As French and Spanish teacher as well as fall play director and assistant director and assistant fencing coach, these were the years in which I had the most significant influence on those whom I taught and coached. These years have been the most enjoyable and memorable.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would first pay off any existing debts. I would save or invest part of it for future real estate venture. I would like to establish a scholarship for World language achievement at Marian Central.
