When I was a second grade student I remember telling everyone I wanted to be a teacher when I grew up. As I continued my education and graduated high school life had others plans. Due to financial hardship college wasn’t an option, so I worked instead. After a year I realized that life had more to offer. I was given an opportunity to work part time at a day care. This is when my declaration to be a teacher began to take root and flourished. So here I am!

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I have so many memorable moments as a teacher it’s so so hard to choose! I think having the parents admiration and positive feed back through the years has been humbling. So many parents and students return to visit. They remind me how I still make an impact in the child life even years later. I been fortunate to be a part of these children journey years after they left me in elementary. I have become a part of their family unit and for that I would be forever grateful.

What would you do with the $25,000?

What I would do with the $25,000 is pay off outstanding bills that I occurred due to hurricane Helene. I lost my home and car so having to start over was definitely a challenge. I will also help my son with college expenses. The rest I will use it for some fun activities like travel and fine dining with my husband. Definitely will celebrate with my class and give them a big pizza party.
