Tell us why you became a teacher

I always knew I would be a teacher. I loved school and learning so sharing that love through teaching was a natural fit. I’ve taught 8th grade science and high school science classes but found my true passion 10 years ago when I moved to special education.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I cannot pinpoint one specific teaching experience but graduation day is always a special day. Witnessing these special education students that I have worked with for four years walk across that stage is mesmerizing. Sharing that moment with them is a magical part of my career and I get to experience that every year.

What would you do with the $25,000?

Both of my parents have heart conditions and have had major surgeries within the last two years. They recently moved in with me full time but they would like to build their own home on my property to have their independence while still being close to me. I would use the money to help fund their new home.
