From a young age, I was told that I was a natural leader, with a deep sense of compassion for others. However, I struggled to find a career path that would allow me to use those qualities in a meaningful way. It wasn’t until I volunteered for the Special Olympics that everything clicked—I realized that teaching was my true calling. Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I launched a fishing club that grew to 70 members, fostering an inclusive community. In its final year, students of all genders, ages, and ethnicities—athletes, non-athletes, and those in wheelchairs—participated in a lively derby. The club sparked a passion for fishing and united diverse students in an environment where everyone felt valued.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I won the $25,000 award, I would use it to pay off my student loans—a financial burden that forces me to take on second jobs outside of being a teacher even though I already devote countless hours to my students. Eliminating this debt would allow me to focus even more on my classroom, ensuring that I can provide the unwavering support and inspiration my students need and deserve.
