Tell us why you became a teacher

I struggled in school when I was a young girl. I wanted to provide a place where young people weren’t afraid to ask for help, where they were loved and felt secure regardless of test scores!

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my favorite teaching moments in second grade was our Student Showcase Night, where my students took full ownership of their learning and became the teachers. Families were invited to visit our classroom, not just to see their child’s work, but to experience their child’s learning firsthand. Leading up to the event, students prepared by selecting their best work and practicing explanations. They proudly showcased their learning day!

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would purchase items for our school to build our STEM content. Id also invest in door stoppers to help prevent unwanted visitors from entering our classrooms.
