I have always had a passion for helping individuals with special needs have a better life. I also always wanted to be a basketball coach. Now I do both! I am inspired by the positive attitudes individuals with special needs embrace, despite their day to day challenges and I have a strong passion for teaching student-athletes core values and skills that have seem to have gone obsolete! Training hard… Practicing on your own time… Uplifting others… Listening to elders… and many more.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceWinning a basketball championship is definitely memorable, but the most special teaching experience was when our special education students joined our 8th Grade ‘Career Fair Project’. This project takes about 2-3 months and involves the students creating a posterboard showcasing their future careers. It’s amazing to see them dressed up in their future attire, proudly displaying their posterboards. This project ends their middle school career on a positive and relevant note!!!
What would you do with the $25,000?I would love to get out of my 700 sq ft apartment for the last 5 years and buy a house!!! My doodles need more space!!! Haha. And, so do I! I would truly, see if my parents needed any support, throw a party for my classes, buy some gifts for my teacher aids and co-teachers, invest a little bit, and pray on what god would advise me to do with a few of his timely nudges he always does!
