Tell us why you became a teacher

I became an art teacher because I believe creativity has the power to inspire heal and transform lives. My passion for art goes beyond technique. It's about self-expression, confidence and connections. I've created spaces where I want students to explore, take risks and discover their own unique voice. Having a teacher who believed in me, guided me and encouraged my growth made all the difference. Their support helped me see art as a lifelong tool for communication and self discovery.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable experiences as a teacher was entering my students. Artwork into the state art competition, out of 316 districts and 1700 schools by third grade student was selected for the president's choice award for third grade artwork. She felt incredibly proud and I was even prouder of her in that moment. We both felt seen and I believe this experience will stay with her forever.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I were awarded $25,000. I would use it to enrich my students artistic experience. I would invest in high-quality art supplies bringing in materials that would spark creativity and allow students to explore different mediums. I would love to create special opportunities like field trips to museums or guest artists workshops to inspire them beyond the classroom. Teaching is a shared experience that fuels my own growth and deepens my love for education.
