Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a Health Educator because I have the opportunity to make a difference every day in 200+ students’ lives by demonstrating the importance of all aspects of Health. Pursuing positive lifestyle choices can be challenging for many, but I create an environment for students to learn freely and set goals for their futures.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience occurred my first year teaching, in which, I taught 8th grade physical education. On a daily basis, I worked with students that came from a low income area, and had extreme behavioral issues. I struggled, contemplated quitting, but continued to pursue my career and persevered. I moved on to teach high school the following years where I saw some of my first students graduate and how proud they were to walk across the stage. They struggled, but never gave up.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With my $25,000 I would simply pay off my school debt. I have recently earned a Master’s Degree (first of my family) and the money would greatly ease my burden of being in debt.
