Tell us why you became a teacher

Teaching roles-Space Camp/ Huntsville, YMCA Camp counselor , Cub Scout leader, Girls Who Run Coach, Coding Club, Math tutor, Civil Air Patrol teacher, swim. I had good and some experiences that were lacking in my growing up. I want to be the teacher that helps kids see their potential, and help them figure out how to overcome hurdles they have. We can do hard things! I am dedicated to watching out for kids who need a boost , those that need a push, and helping everyone involved and included.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I worked hard to be a teacher, later in life & the excitement is still there! SHCS teacher of the year 2025. I love when students follow up about things we learn in class: I taught about the High Line Trail students sent pictures walking on it- Harlem Globetrotters- Othello! School is a place kids should want to be! I have high attendance /100% days- I can teach kids in class! Wednesday math Workshop! Mardi Gras! Baseball! Super Bowl! Lemonade stand math! Groundhog Day! Be nice - work hard!

What would you do with the $25,000?

First, be grateful. Next- donate to help two organizations that give participation need scholarships - YMCA Camp Roger/Mill Hollow /PVC camp &TVT Theater have both taken several teacher recommendations from me. Then, visit North Dakota (I have two states left to go to have visited all 50 - Hawaii being the other one :) Purchase STEM for my classroom/school - Beebots, Spheros,Dash, Ozobot, Cubetto, etc. next, visit my son at the US Coast Guard Academy. Finally, get a pedicure and a hair cut :)
