I went to school for theatre and took an entry level education class as a general elective. I volunteered at a Boys and Girls club and was tasked with leading a drama class for five and six year olds. I loved it and knew it was my true calling!
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceDuring my final dress rehearsal for my first musical, I received a phone call that my dad had passed away suddenly. The empathy and love that my students showered me with lifted me through the entire grief process. I have had countless experiences when students finally grasp an idea, feel accomplished, or I am recognized for my teaching, but that single experience helped me to see how the relationships I formed with my students have helped them to grow into empathetic, supportive citizens.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would see more of the world and give my children experiences I never had growing up.
